Courthouses

Second- and third- year law students participating in an in-house or St. Louis-based clinic spend between 12 and 28 hours per week at their clinical placement office or courthouse. Many of the courthouses in St. Louis are just a few miles from the law school. The U.S. District and Magistrate courts for the Eastern District of Missouri and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit are located in the Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse at 111 S. 10th St. in downtown St. Louis. There are also Federal Courthouses in East St. Louis and Alton, Illinois. Missouri state courthouses are located at 10 N. Tucker (12th St.) (Civil Courts Building) and 1320 Market Street (Municipal Courts Building where state criminal trials are held) in St. Louis City and 7900 Carondelet (St. Louis County Courthouse) in Clayton. The Missouri Court of Appeals in St. Louis is located in the Wainwright Building, 111 N. 7th Street.
